Postdoctoral researcher

commencing on January 1, 2026. We offer a full-time position (40 hours per week), (initially) offered as a fixed-term position until 31.12.2027.

The Schubert group is a world-leading group in the field of polymer chemistry. The FutureBAT project, funded by the European Research Council (ERC) as an ERC Advanced Grant, focuses on the development and optimization of future storage technologies for the energy transition. The main focus lies on research into polymer-based and organic redox flow batteries (RFB).

Your responsibilities:

    • Development and 3D-printing of cell designs for organic RFBs
    • Characterization of the printed cells with regard to various performance properties
    • Development of a platform for the high-throughput analysis (HTA) of organic RFBs
    • Integration of various sensors into the HTA platform (e.g., state of charge, state of health)
    • Application of the developed HTA platform for characterizing various electrolytes

Your profile:

    • Successfully completed doctorate (physics, chemistry, engineering, materials science, or equivalent)
    • Knowledge in general computer programs, e.g., Windows and Office
    • You are able to communicate in English, both in writing and speaking
    • The ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international team is expected
    • We expect a high level of motivation, initiative and a willingness to familiarize yourself with a wide range of tasks
    • Experience in 3D-printing and/or electrochemistry are desirable

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week).

The position is generally suitable for part-time employment. The extent to which a request for part-time work can be granted, particularly with regard to the location and scope of the part-time work, will be assessed on the basis of operational requirements.
