The Institute for Theoretical Physics seeks to fill the position of a

Postdoc in Quantum Field Theory (m/f/d)

commencing on 1st October 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position is in the group of Prof. Dr. Stefan Floerchinger. The focus is on research on quantum field theory including conceptual questions such as non-perturbative formulations with the renormalization group, non-equilibrium dynamics, quantum information theoretic aspects, and applications to high energy nuclear collisions, ultracold quantum gases or cosmological large-scale structure formation.

Your responsibilities:

    • Develop and publish research projects within the field of quantum field theory and related subjects such as quantum information, statistical field theory or relativistic fluid dynamics.
    • Support faculty teaching in Theoretical Physics.
    • Help to supervise and support Bachelor and Master students.
    • Work on an own scientific qualification project, e.g. Habilitation or Science Management

Your profile:

    • Ph.D. degree in Theoretical Physics
    • Enthusiasm for research work.

We offer a full-time position (40 hours per week), initially limited to two years, an extension by a third year is possible.
