The Institute of Physical Chemistry within the LPI seeks to fill the position of a

Data Steward Photonic data science

commencing on the earliest possible starting date. We offer a full-time position initially limited until 14.05.2026.

The "Leibniz Center for Photonics in Infection Research" (LPI) in Jena is an open user center where photonic solutions for diagnostics, monitoring and experimental therapy in infections are researched and developed into functional solutions with industry. The LPI was jointly applied for by the Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies Jena e.V. (Leibniz-IPHT), the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology - Hans Knöll Institute (Leibniz-HKI) as well as the University Hospital Jena and the Friedrich Schiller University Jena under the patronage of the Leibniz Association. The Data Steward for Photonic data science is responsible for the quality of the data and data sources at LPI.

Your responsibilities:

    • Advancing standards in good scientific practice in all steps of data management in close cooperation with IT and life scientists
    • Exploring data flows in scientific work and implementing practical improvements in data management with respect to the FAIR principles
    • Data management planning in collaboration with scientists
    • Develop training programs for various aspects of scientific data management
    • Development of applications for data management and documentation

Your profile:

    • Completed master degree or PhD in (natural) science like biology, chemistry or physics
    • Experience related to data analysis and data storage would be desired
    • Interest in data-driven research
    • Strong communication skills in English and interdisciplinary contexts

The advertised position is initially limited until 14.05.2026. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). The position can also be filled on a part-time basis.
