The Department of Mathematics seeks to fill the position of a

Doctoral Research Associate
in mathematics – algebra/geometry

commencing on 1 October 2024.

The position is part of the DFG funded research project Lorentzian Polynomials and Equality in Log-concave Inequalities conducted by Hendrik Süß and Thomas Wannerer.

The project is part of the DFG priority program Combinatorial Synergies (https://www.combinatorial-synergies.de).

Your responsibilities:

    • Research in convex and/or algebraic geometry
    • Working under supervision towards a PhD degree
    • support in applying for and coordinating third-party funded projects as well as self-administration

Your profile:

    • Master’s degree in Mathematics
    • preferably (but not necessarily) background in convex and/or algebraic geometry

We offer a three-year part-time position with 75% of the working hours of a full-time employee (40 hours per week).
