The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration seeks to fill the position of a

Postdoctoral Researcher in Macroeconomics

commencing on April 1, 2023, or later. We offer a full-time position (40 hours a week), which is initially limited to two years but may be extended based on the availability of resources.

The Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration strives to produce excellent research that offers new insights into policy-relevant problems. The department’s research areas include topics in financial economics, innovation economics, microeconomics, experimental economics, public economics, international economics, and macroeconomics. The department collaborates with renowned national and international partners and has close ties to the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH). Based in the Economics Department, the Macroeconomics Research Group conducts high-quality research, focusing on business cycles and monetary and fiscal policy. Furthermore, the group teaches a broad portfolio of Bachelor’s and Master’s courses at the University of Jena. In addition, we offer a major in quantitative macroeconomics. Your responsibilities:

    • You develop your own research agenda in the field of macroeconomics.
    • You disseminate your research through scientific publications, workshops, and conferences.
    • You actively participate in the department’s research activities.
    • You participate in applying for third-party funding.
    • You support the department’s teaching activities, teach courses at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, and supervise Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. theses.

Your profile:

    • You have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Economics or be close to completing it.
    • You hold a Master’s degree in Economics (or related fields).
    • You have the potential to produce publications in highly regarded, internationally recognized journals, demonstrated by either a publication record or an excellent Job Market Paper.
    • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity, and cooperation.
    • You have an excellent command of English. Knowledge of German is desirable but not necessary.
