Within the framework of the Forschungs- und Entwicklungsvorhaben Thüringen Verbund, “Neuartige Polyester- und verwandte Materialien zur Anwendung in polymeren Partikeln - InnoPolyPharm”, which is funded by the Thüringer Aufbaubank (TAB), the following position is being offered at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena starting on February 1st, 2026:

Research Associate

commencing on 01 February 2026, or as early as possible. We offer a part-time position (50%), initially as a fixed term position until 30.09.2028.
The aim of the project is to synthesize well-defined polymers suitable to serve as nanocarriers for anti-inflammatory pharmaceutical actives in cooperation with NGP Polymers GmbH. Controlled and living polymerization techniques will be applied to enable access to biocompatible hydrophilic as well as biodegradable hydrophobic polymers with defined end groups. To ensure the identity of the novel materials, an extensive structural characterization using methods such as mass spectrometry (MALDI and ESI MS), chromatography (SEC and HPLC) and spectroscopy techniques (NMR, IR, UV-Vis) will be utilized.

Your responsibilities:

    • Work on your doctoral thesis focusing on synthesis and characterization of the polymers
    • Active participation in group seminars and project meetings
    • Summarizing your achieved results in scientific publications\

Your profile:

    • Master's degree in chemistry or polymer science
    • Fluency in English, both in oral and written communication
    • Ability to work independently and organized
    • Commitment, high flexibility, team spirit

The advertised position is offered as fixed-term position until 30.09.2028. The position is part time (20 hours per week; 50%).
