In the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio (SFB) 294 "Structural Change of Property", a cooperation between the Universities of Jena und Erfurt, as part of the subproject on “Persona ficta? Post-Doc Researcher (100%)

We offer a full-time position (40 hours per week), offered as a fixed-term position until 31.12.2028.

In this research project, you will investigate the changing handling of financialized property using popular investment practices as an example. The construction of medially effective social figures, by which conflicts were illustrated and negotiated, will be the focus of interest and form the basis for cooperation with other projects of the SFB Transregio 294.

Your responsibilities:

• Research on the social and cultural history of financial markets, in particular on popular investment practices and forms of subjectivization
• Work on your own research project (habilitation or comparable project)
• Preparation of a monograph and other publications in national and international journals
• Independent structuring and coordination of subtasks in the project
• Collaboration in the overarching research projects of the sub-project as well as the preparation and implementation of events of the interdisciplinary SFB “Structural Change of Property”

Your profile:

• Excellent degree and successfully completed doctorate in history or closely related subjects
• Profound knowledge of the history of the 20th/21st century and capitalism; expertise in the history of West Germany and France after 1945 is particularly desirable
• Experience with archive-based research and willingness to apply contemporary historical methods (incl. oral history)
• Willingness to actively participate in interdisciplinary research contexts
• Good to very good knowledge of German, French, and English
