The Center of Molecular Biomedicine, Section Biophysics, of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena seeks to fill the position of a

Postdoctoral Researcher in the Area of
“Biophysics / Physiology of Ion Channels”

for the next possible date.

We offer a full-time position (40 hours per week), initially for 2 years, with the option of extension. Furthermore, further qualification (habilitation) can be achieved on this position.

Our research unit focusses on the physiology and pathophysiology of ion channels. We investigate the molecular origins of human diseases and employ methods of electrophysiology, molecular biology, and photonics. You will substantially excel the success of our projects by contributing your expertise in a team of researchers. You will also extend you qualification by novel experimental approaches.

Your responsibilities:

    • Conduct interdisciplinary research in the molecular medicine of ion channels
    • Contribute to the development and application of new projects
    • Supervise and support students and doctoral students
    • Support faculty teaching by supervising seminar and labwork projects in biology and biochemistry (4 h/week)

Your profile:

    • Ph.D. degree in biophysics, molecular biology, biochemistry or physiology
    • Interest in molecular medicine of ion channels and molecular function of proteins
    • Ideally some background knowledge in molecular biological methods, fluorescence microscopy and/or electrophysiology
    • You have like to work in a team
    • Proficiency in English and German

This is a full-time position with 100% of the working hours of a full-time employee (40 hours per week).
