The UNESCO Chair on Global Understanding for Sustainability based at Friedrich-Schiller University seeks to fill the position of a

Project Coordinator

beginning at the earliest possible time.
a part-time position (80%, 32 hours per week) offered as a fixed-term position until February 28, 2026.
The UNESCO Chair on Global Understanding for Sustainability is dedicated to addressing cultural, social and regional dimensions of global sustainability in research, education and policy. As part of a network of over 950 UNESCO-Chairs and 45 UNITWIN Networks in 120 countries, numerous NGO’s and project partners it serves first and foremost as a "laboratory of ideas" for the development of innovative program proposals. As our new Project Coordinator, you will be directly involved in implementing the objectives of UNESCO and the UN sustainability programs.

Your responsibilities:

    • Responsibility for the coordination of the cooperation with numerous international partners from the fields of science, education, art and business as well as thematically relevant NGO’s
    • Together with the team, you will work on project development and implementation and thus make a significant contribution to the success of the UNESCO Chair's work program
    • In addition, you will contribute to the conception of events and action programs, including the design and maintenance of a global communication platform.

Your profile:

    • University degree in a topically relevant study field
    • In-depth knowledge in the field of sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
    • Well-developed competences in (digital) international communication and cooperation in the form of online meetings, conferences, webinars, etc.)
    • As well as a good command of MS Office
    • Very good written and spoken English
    • Good knowledge of Spanish and French is desirable

    • Flexible working hours (after consultation/flextime)
    • Remuneration based on the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Sector of the Federal States (TV-L) to salary scale 13 — depending on the candidate’s personal qualifications —, including a special annual payment in accordance with the collective agreement.
    • 30 days of vacation per calendar year plus two days off on December 24 and 31
