The department of Biochemistry at the Center for Molecular Biomedicine (CMB) seeks to fill the position of a

Research Assistant / Doctoral Candidate

to the next possible date. We offer part-time position (50%) for 3 years (with option of a fourth year).

Within the Biochemistry Department, research of the Kosan lab focuses on the investigation of the molecular mechanisms of gene regulation in the development of immune cells and cancer development

Your responsibilities:

    • You will analyse hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in different conditional knockout mouse models.
    • Using Multi-colour flow cytometry (FACS) of different immune cell subsets.
    • You will study the effect of infection and aging on hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) function.
    • Analysis of cell intrinsic and extrinsic signalling cascades in HSCs and progenitor cells.
    • You will perform gene expression analysis and Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) experiments to investigate epigenetic modifications in immune cells.

Your profile:

    • We expect highly motivated and qualified candidates.
    • University degree (M. Sc. or diploma) with focus on Biochemistry/Immunology/Molecular Biology or a similar program.
    • Good knowledge of Immunology and haematology is an advantage.
    • Experience in the field of epigenetics would be helpful.

The advertised position is initially limited to a maximum of 3 years.

This is a part-time position with 50% of the working hours of a full-time employee (20 hours per week).
