The Cluster of Excellence Balance of the Microverse at Friedrich Schiller University Jena investigates the interactions and functions of microbial communities in different habitats - from oceans and groundwater to plant and human hosts. The goal is to identify cross-habitat principles and dynamics that allow for restoration and maintenance of equilibrium in microbial communities. The Cluster of Excellence brings together expertise in life sciences, optics/photonics, materials and computer sciences at the university and non-university research institutes in Jena. Outreach and Marketing Manager

The full-time position (100% / 40 h/week) is available at the earliest possible date and is initially with a limited contract until 12/31/2025.
We are looking for a highly creative candidate to expand the brand Balance of the Microverse and increase its visibility on a national and international level. Working at the interface between life/natural sciences and marketing, you will take an active mediator position between the involved stakeholders and contribute significantly to the image of the modern, highly networked Cluster of Excellence. You should bring fresh ideas for appealing graphical components that reflect the highly dynamic and interdisciplinary nature of our research network.

Ihre Aufgaben:

    • Conception and implementation of target group specific marketing activities and campaigns, analog and digital, including their measurement of success

    • Development of the brand Balance of the Microverse and increase of its visibility on a national and international level

    • Developing innovative concepts to make the research topic more accessible to the public

    • Analysis and specification of stakeholders

    • Organization of events as well as development of cluster-specific event concepts to develop new target groups

    • Concept development for website and social media presence

    • Creating and implementing templates for presentations of scientific results, as well as creating graphics

Ihr Profil:

    • Successful completion of university studies or a comparable degree in marketing, public relations, media design, media technology, visual communication, media and communication science or similar
    • You should have an affinity for science, great communication and organizational skills, and enjoy working with external partners from the creative industries (graphic designers, web programmers, photographers, filmmakers, printers).
    • Creativity in development and implementation of marketing concepts that reflect scientific accuracy
    • Confident and professional handling of the English language as well as knowledge of the German language
    • An integrative, team-oriented personality with excellent communication skills
    • Strong skills for on-time project management, organizational talent and independent working style
    • Interest in a versatile creative work within a large natural science project consortium

The full-time position (40 hours/week) is initially limited until 31.12.2025, with an option for extension. A part-time position may be discussed.
