The Institute of Psychology is seeking a

Research Associate
in the third-party funded project CoPIn

to fill a part-time (75% / 30 hours per week) position as from 01.10.2025 until 30.09.2028.

The Chair of Social Psychology is looking for a research assistant in the project "[CoPIn]: Collective punishment and intergroup relations: How collective punishment induces group identification, hostility towards other groups and counteractions".
He is particularly concerned with intergroup processes, co-operation and conflict within and between social groups, moral emotions, authoritarianism, recognition and reconciliation. Here, mainly basic, experimental studies are used.

Your responsibilities:

    • Familiarisation and further conceptualisation of the project "[CoPIn]: Collective punishment and intergroup relations: How collective punishment induces group identification, hostility towards other groups and counteractions"
    • Carrying out and analysing empirical studies
    • Presenting papers at international conferences
    • Publishing research findings in international journals
    • Working on your own academic qualification project, e.g. doctorate

Your profile:

    • Master's degree in psychology
    • very good knowledge of social psychological theory
    • very good written and spoken English
    • interest in planning, conducting and analysing quantitative studies, especially in the field of experimental research
    • interest in theoretical and empirical work in the research project CoPIn
    • publications in english-language journals are an advantage

We offer:

    • Remuneration based on the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Sector of the Federal States (TV-L) at / up to salary scale 13 — depending on the candidate’s personal qualifications—, including a special annual payment in accordance with the collective agreement
    • Support with individual development and qualification requirements, incl. Graduate Academy for doctoral candidates and postdocs
    • Newly established research laboratory with support for data collection by auxiliary staff
    • An active international network (e.g. annual international workshops on intergroup relations) and participation in international conferences
    • 30 days of vacation per calendar year plus two days off on December 24 and 31

The advertised position is offered as a fixed-term position for a maximum of 3 years.
